My Top 10 Australian Indie polishes of 2013

This list is my opinion of the polishes I've purchased this year and how I found them to be for me. This wasn't an easy list to make and there are a couple I had a great deal of trouble cutting out, so honorable mentions go to

Femme Fatale Cosmetics Ruby Hare, it was the start of an incredible range of gorgeous holos from Femme Fatale Cosmetics. As Ruby Hare was the first one I tried, it's a personal favourite

Also Emily de Molly's Monet's Garden, such a gorgeous blend of glitters with a beautiful green jelly base.

No10. Hollish Nails - Murder on the Dancefloor
I adore this polish as it gives me so many options in one bottle. The sparkle has to be seen to be believed. It's amazing as an accent nail as well as having the ability to be a texture polish with no top coat and giving a similar sparkle effect of a texture polish with top coat. A must have for any collection.

No. 9 Celestial Cosmetics - Santa's Blue Balls

This one is self explanatory, the depth of the blue in this holo is amazing. It is the most beautiful blue holo I've ever seen!

No 8. - Femme Fatale Cosmetics - Fatal Attraction
Fatal Attraction came out with Femme Fatale Cosmetics Valentine collection. It's a gorgeous deep red packed full of sparkle from the scattered holo. The red leans towards pink and it's so gorgeous!

No. 7 Alanna Renee - Drink of Despair
Of course there would be green in any top 10 list I made. Drink of Despair is the perfect Emerald green glitter.

No.6 - Lilypad Lacquer - True Blood

Lilypad Lacquer bounced onto the Indie scene this year offering never seen before colours in stunning holos. True Blood is the epitome of what Lilypad Lacquers has to offer, it's rich and deep with a heavily pigmented colour in an extra strong linear holo formula. Just superb!

No.5 Emily de Molly - Blueprint

The photos are self explanatory with this one, it's a super amazing blue glitter it's just to die for!

No 4. - Celestial Cosmetics Mother of Dragons

This amazing multichrome came from the Game of Thrones collection. The collection included other stunning multichromes that I adore but Mother of Dragons totally won my heart. It is so rich and satiny I could drown in it :)

No. 3 - Emily de Molly The Forces

Early in the year when Emily de Molly released Cosmic Forces we were all amazed and in love with the spectacular large holo dots. Cosmic Forces was the polish that started it all and we see large holo dots in so many other brands now. Everything about the range of Forces polishes is perfect from the jelly bases to the wonderful perfect combination of glitters. A huge winner in my eyes for this year.

No. 2 - Emily de Molly Bellissima

I love soft colours and the combination in this glitter topper is serene, feminine and romantic. I love this topper as it adds pop and sparkle to pale soft colours and I think the colour of the glitters is just perfect.

Emily de Molly - Princess Grace

Before we hit number one I have to share that this is my personal number one Indie polish of the year. As Princess Grace was designed by Hayley and I and isn't readily available it felt unfair to declare it the number one Aussie Indie polish of the year. However every thing about this polish makes it my number one, the colours are vibrant and the glitter a perfect match.

Ta da the No 1. Australian Indie polish for this year in my opinion is Emily de Molly Turbulence.

This is heaven in a bottle with a gorgeous array of colours and glitters it is just so beautiful. I love the different sizes and shapes of the glitter, this polish is so gorgeous and different to anything else I own. A definite must have for any glitter fan!

Hollish Nails - review Murder on the Dancefloor, Touched by Midas, Bazaar and Snow Puppies

I can't believe I somehow didn't review these gorgeous polishes earlier! I think I lost a few brain cells in the pre-Christmas chaos. These beauties are from Hollish Nails and as a new Indie maker I am quickly falling in love with the brand through their outstanding polishes. You can find Hollish Nails on etsy or Facebook, now onto the polishes.

The first two are from the amazing Death by Sparkle collection that contains 4 to die for polishes. I review I Bleed Rubies and Cyan-ide here. Now I have the two other gems in this collection to show you. Firstly is this exquisite silver sparkler Murder on the Dancefloor. This polish is an absolute must for all!! It is so sparkly and gorgeous, applies like a dream and with a top coat has a gorgeous smooth finish. It catches the sun and has you staring at your nails for hours. This is one of my new favourite silver polishes. All of the Death by Sparkles polishes can be worn with or without top coat and as you know I'm not a fan of textured these are perfect for me to have that amazing sparkly effect without the roughness. I truly adore this polish.

Next is Touched by Midas the last of the Death by Sparkles I have to share with you. The formula on this one is a little different and has more translucency than the other 3, but it doesn't stop that gorgeous sparkly effect I keep raving about. Again it is super easy to apply, dries in super quick time and has that added bonus of you getting to choose whether you want to wear a top coat or leave it as a textured finish.

The third polish I have to share today is Bazaar, this is a stunning glitter topper. Here I have worn one coat over a England Perceval. Bazaar contains tiny to medium red glitter as well as metallic and holo squares and hex. It also has orange, blue, teal hexes and bright pink dots. Perfect to go over any of those colours but I love it over red. There was no problems with application, the glitter applied easily and there was no fishing for pieces. This colour combination is just stunning!

Lastly I have Snow Puppies to show you. Another bright and cheerful glitter topper Snow Puppies has orange, hot pink and white glitters with fuschia dots. This combination of colours works fabulously. Here I am wearing it over Powder Perfect - Raspberry Whorl. It would look great over any of the other colours as well. Again application was easy and I love how it dresses up a plain polish.

Don't forget to visit Hollish Nails at etsy

These polishes were provided for review, this does not change the way I write about them.

My Favourite Nail Designs 2013

These are my top 10 favourite nail designs I've done this year. They aren't all technically challenging, but they all made it hard to take them off.

10. Mosaic nails - these were fiddly but I love the bright colours and the end result

9. Pastel Roses - this was my first try at doing roses and I simply love how they turned out.

8. My piCture pOlish Blogfest mani - I just really love the colours in this one and the classic design on each nail.

7. Body Image Awareness mani - this was my first time trying triangles, now I'm hooked on them but this one will always be my favourite.

6. This Christmas design is very 'me', I actually really just adore neutrals and simple design. It's not that I don't like bright and playful, I do, I just love simple but elegant.

5. Dotticure - this is a very simple look to achieve and I love the pop it gives to your nails with very little effort required. With just 4 simple colours you don't need to go over the top to have nails you can't stop looking at.

4. Sea Jewel - I'm not sure it's that I just adore this polish but I do also love that it's highlighted with a simple accent nail.

3. Australian Christmas - I'm proud of this design and just love how it turned out. Apart from forgetting to add a sandman it turned out even better than I expected.

2. Inspired by The Santa Clause 3 -I'm also really proud of this design. Again it turned out even better than I expected and it gives me warm fuzzies as it encapsulates one of my favourite things about Christmas.

No 1 - Hibiscus Mani - I love everything about this one. The colours are pretty and the peach adds pop, the design is simple but the hibiscus adds interest. It's not perfect but is the first time I attempted a hibiscus and I really enjoyed wearing this design.

Did I choose your favourite or is there one you think should have been included?

Black and gold Christmas day nails

I only have one not so great photo of my Christmas Day nails, there just wasn't time for more. They lookk much better in real life even though I didn't get time to put a star on top of the tree. The Deborah Lippmann is Cleopatra in New York, a very pretty black with gold glitter. I hope you've all had or are having a wonderful Christmas.

I also redid the collage as I had one in there twice and missed a couple of others, so this is the final collage. I plan to do my best and worsts of 2013 leading up to the New Year. There are going to be some tough choices so check back :).

Merry Christmas

I'm proud to have done 30 Christmas Manis this year, I still have 3 ideas that I didn't have time to do so I'll have to store them in my brain and hopefully accomplish them next year.

I wanted to wish you all the Merriest of Christmas and hope you have a day full of love and laughter with your loved ones. Tx

Christmas stripes

Another easy Christmas mani for you to do. Apply your base colour, I used Zoya Holly, top coat and allow the dry. Cut some lines out of scotch tape, painters tape or washi tape. Put the tape on the back of your hand once as this makes it less tacky and there is less chance of damaging your base colour. Place the tape and paint above and below in contrasting colours, with a thin coat. Carefully pull off the tape, top coat and your done! I've used a England Perceval for red and Zoya Ziv for the gold. I haven't decided on my Christmas Eve nails yet, so you may get one more post from me today :)

Polka dot Christmas

A really easy but fun look for the festive season. Just choose some festive colours and add the dots. You'll be done in a couple of minutes but still have eye catching nails. The red I used is Pretty Serious Hell on Wheels and the green is butter London Squatter. Try it!
